Kimball pianos sometimes have the serial number in a hard-to-find place stamped on the back edge of the keybed. The world-renowned Kimball Piano is no longer available, and it was no longer. For example, if the serial number is 1234, then the piano was built in 1912. It is a 6-digit number, and the first two digits represent the year of manufacture. Dates that are cast into the plate of a piano are dates when the company was founded and not dates for the particular piano. Serial numbers are typically located in the interior of the piano either on the gold plate or on the soundboard.
